A Lazy Island in a Sea of Web Insanity

Brooke Burke

Brooke Burke is on Dancing with the Stars. We won't say it's the only reason to watch the show but it is a good one.

Brooke Burke was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. Her looks come from her family's heritage, which is French/Irish with Portuguese/Irish.

The middle child of 7. The aspiring rock band drummer got her start in entertainment after she was noticed for her dark sultry looks. She went with  a friend to a modeling agency, when she was the one who was noticed by a talent scout.

As a former beauty pageant winner, Brooke decided to pursue a modeling career. Her beauty pageant experience led her everything from magazine covers and billboards to swimsuit calendars.

Brooke Burke received an acting scholarship and moved to Los Angeles, CA where she would study as a broadcast journalism student at UCLA. But her studies were not her full-time job, as Brooke Burke also spent her free time in front of the camera as a model.

Becoming a high-profile model would not be difficult after having signed with modeling agencies Ford, Wilhelmina and Cunningham-Escott-Dipene. Brooke was ready to add a dozen magazine covers to her resumé, not to mention television commercials, most notable, the Bally Total Fitness commercials (as the "beautiful body"), Discover Card commercials (as Derek Jeter's date), and commercials for Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch and M Professional Cosmetics.

When the E!  network began searching for a replacement for its show Wild On, a swim wear company that Brooke worked for recommended her to the entertainment network. Brooke went for a casual meeting and interviewed with E!.

E! was looking for a spontaneous, personable and down-to-earth person. Along with her great looks Brooke Burke fit the requirements perfectly, she was signed to a three-year contract with the network as the hostess of the party show, Wild On.

Taking modeling to new heights, Brooke Burke appeared on the cover of Playboy's May 2001 issue.

Brooke Burke enjoys staying home with her pets and four children. While at her Los Angeles home (where she spends a maximum of 15 days per month), the jet setter stays fit by practicing yoga, kickboxing, scuba diving, taking long walks, and relaxes by cooking and reading. From traveling around the world as a model to seeing the world as the host of Wild On, Brooke has recognized how important family is and her charitable nature is what drives her to volunteer for non-profit organizations such as Athletes and Entertainers for Kids and the Entertainment Industry Foundation.
