| I am a target again.
I don't worry about drunk drivers the way I once did. In my younger, wilder
days I was known to frequent bars and stay out late. I found it to be a fun
habit. The only down side was driving home late at night when there might
be a few less than sober drivers populating the roads. This made me a target.
A target for a driver that might be slightly impaired from too many cold
ones.
Now that I don't tend to go out late I have stop worrying so much about getting
plowed into by a intoxicated driver.. I know, I know, you can get hit any
time you are on the road. My calculations faulty or not made me feel better
about my chances.
That was until this week. The University of Utah has released a study that
agrees with a Canadian study that was done years ago. The study claims that
using a cell phone while driving is more dangerous than being drunk while
driving. Oh, this is great. I can't leave my own street without seeing some
chuckle head talking on a cellular phone while driving. In fact last year
I was almost hit in my own front yard by a cell phone talking, not paying
attention driver. So now staying home nights offers no protection. These
cellular idiots are everywhere. Who they are talking to is beyond my guess.
Do they drive just to catch up on their social life?
All I know is Utah and I know they are dangerous. So put down the phones.
Turn on the voice mail and watch where you are going. I will thank you. Utah
will thank you. Most likely your friends, who have to put up with you senseless
static calls, will thank you.
Believe it or not we are not waiting around for you to call every time you
don't feel like talking to your kid in the back seat.
We are way too busy reading
